First of all, you need to try and scrape the paint off with a paint scraper. Scrape in one direction and try not to gouge the brick.

Now, scrub the bricks with a wire brush to remove the paint from inside the grooves

Use a commercial paint remover or oven cleaner to any areas you can’t get the paint off

Let it sit according to the package directions (or for 1 hour). Scrape an area to see if the paint has softened. If not, wait 30 minutes to 1 hour more and then try again.

You should now be able to scrape the paint off the bricks once it has softened. Use the wire brush to remove the paint from the grooves.

Rinse the brick completely with clean water once all the paint has been removed.

First, remove any peeling paint with a scraper or putty knife

Now clean the brick surface with a wire brush, making sure you remove any dust, dirt and remaining paint

Scrape out any cracks in the brick thoroughly using a wire brush or putty knife, and seal them with silicon or acrylic caulk.

Wash any mildew from the bricks using a 3 to 1 water and bleach mixture.

Lastly, rinse the bricks with water to remove the bleach residue.
